DecalGirl PSP Skin - Bullets - Review

Introduction

As a gamer and modder enthusiast I have many fun gadgets and lots of cool gaming equipment. The problem is most of the gadgets and equipment don’t come in more than one or two colors.  However, luckily there is a company, which specializes in new faceplates and cool decals. It gives me a great pleasure to introduce to you Decal Girl. Decal Girl delivers a wide range of products to its customers including hundreds of different designs for Xbox, Playstation, Laptops and just about everything in between. So check them out as I’m sure you will be satisfied with their vast selection.

Today we will take a look at PSP Bullets Skin, which has been provided for a review by DecalGirl. This skin is compatible with PSP Slim and Lite and designed to have a goo-free removal.

About the Product

DecalGirl PSP Slim skin kits covers the front and back of the new PSP Slim, completely wrapping the area around the directional control as well as exposing the openings for the speakers and LED lights. Printed at art-quality resolutions on premium grade cast vinyl then covered with a clear protective coating, our full-color PSP Slim skins use an innovative, patented repositionable and removable adhesive backing for fast, easy and accurate installation and goo-free removal! Includes a download code to get a free matching wallpaper for a seamless look!

This kit is designed exclusively for use with the PSP Slim and Lite (model PSP2000) that was released in mid-September 2007.

Now that we got the basic information out of the way, let’s take a look at the actual skin.

Closer look

Arriving package

Logo

The package arrived in a cardboard envelope and was very light. In the center of the package I found a nice logo with a shipping label.

Front shot

Back shot

When I opened the package I found a strong piece of cardboard supporting the structure of the shipping envelope. Great idea if you want your package to keep from bending. Inside of the package I found a small plastic bag with a PSP Skin Kit in it. As I looked from every angle I liked what I saw. Everything was very professionally designed and very appealing to the eye.

Size comparison

Our test subject

I will be installing this PSP Skin on a PSP Slim or PSP 2000. Nothing is special about this unit, just a regular stock PSP.

Compatibility

On the package of PSP Skin I saw some installation requirements. This particular application supports PSP Original, Slim and Lite.

Installation tips

The PSP Skin Kit comes with an installation tips sheet. If this is your first time installing a skin, it is a good idea to utilize the sheet to familiarize yourself with techniques.

Pealed off

Rubber/Plastic surface

I carefully peeled the sticker from the paper and laid it on the table just to illustrate what it looks like from the other side. The sticky side was made from what felt like rubber or/and plastic.

Application

Coverage

The actual application was very easy. What you really have to keep in mind is to start the application of the sticker on the inside corners of the screen. This way you have a perfect fit all around the unit.

Corners

Buttons

The corners and the buttons came out really good. Everything fit perfectly. The only thing I would’ve done differently design-wise is extend the sides of the skin just a little bit more to cover a little more area.

Shot from the top

Overall, the front side came out great! I think particular decal is really cool; it just goes with my personality. :)

Back of the psp

Installation complete

The back of the PSP looked like a bit of a challenge, but once I started to install the decal everything fell into its place. The hardest part was installing the center piece. I had a hard time with properly aligning the image> <.

Installation complete

Perfect fit

Once the installation of the skin was completed I rechecked to ensure that there were no missing tucks that I had to do or any paper to push out. I found that during the installation I had forgotten to take out the power LED and lock precut holes. So I went back and removed them after installation.

Profile

Background

The final step was to go to psp.getmywallpaper.com to retrieve the matching background for my psp. The process was easy. Just fill out your e mail address and the code corresponding to your skin and the image is sent to your e mail box.

PSP Skin - Bullets

At the end of the installation I had a great looking psp skin:)

Testing

No additional testing was done to this product.

Conclusion

Great product! WHOA! It definitely has changed my plain PSP face plate into something else. I am a first person shooter and I think this skin matches my personality perfectly :). As we can see Decal Girl takes great care in their designs and translating them to awesome skins. The skin came in a very well contained package so your skin will not bend in transport. I think it is very important to get a product to a user in one piece. When the installation of the skin was complete, the skin didn't move or even budge. I was afraid that after the installation the skin would tear and wear quickly but that wasn't the case. The rubber/plastic skin will weather any user, unless you are dropping or dipping your PSP in to water> <. This PSP Skin deserves a 10/10! Great Skin!!!

Some pros we found:

Durable

Easy to install

Matches to the cutouts on the psp

Lots and lots of designs to choose from

Some Cons we found:
