Now that we got basic information out of the way, lets take a closer look at Arion ET-AR504LR-BK.

Closer look

Box Front

Box Side

Well hello there! It looks like Eagle is stepping out of their usual color schema and going GREEN! ^^ The Arion came in a square box and it looks like Eagle did excellent job in presenting this unit to a customer. Very vivid images and great color scheme of black and green definitely stands out in the crowd.

Features

Logos

From every side of the box we found some sort of reference of Eagle company in general. I think they are overdoing it, but i could be wrong. On one side of the box we found some very helpful information about the Arion. Eagle has included Features, Contents and Specifications of Arion. Very detailed if i may add.

Opening the box

Protective bag

Opening the box was easy and quick. We used a knife to pry open the box. Arion came very well packaged against scratches and accidental damage. Each of the major components were bubble wrapped and stored in a cardboard carton from bottom and top.

Out of the box

Front shot

Arion comes with a sub woofer, midrange and tweeter drivers on each speaker, remote control, 3.5mm to RCA audio cable and of course an instructional manual. Each speaker has Eagle Arion logo on top of the tweeter driver. Pretty cool if you ask me. The speaker felt light and i got a little skeptical on how will that effect the performance.

Rear shot

Rear shot close up

The Arion is a solid wood enclosure so i guess that make all the difference here. Were some speakers are made from plywood and other compounded materials Arion is promising best performance with solid wood. On the back of the each speaker we found a small air intake whole. With this hole speakers produce louder sound and give that bold sound option.

Rubber feet

Speaker

Each of the speaker has 4 rubber feet. These feet are pretty sturdy and will not make Arion slide while in operation. Arion is also equipped with 2 3 inch midrange speakers. One thing that kind of worried me was that there were no protective mesh or anything like that to protect the speakers from accidental damage.

Sub woofer

Controls

Arion sub woofer is much larger than the speaker and has some cool features up its sleeve. Sub woofer is equipped with LCD digital equalizer and a stylish buttons for adjusting bass and treble settings along with the volume. The buttons appeared to be make of out aluminum and not plastic as you would expect.

Door

Rubber feet

This time logo is on the bottom of the sub woofer. So this is the third logo on the actual Arion. The sub woofer has the same type of rubber feet as the satellite speakers. I have tried to move the sub woofer and had very hard time doing so. So it is safe to say that they are very beneficial while the sub woofer is on.

Air intake

Rear panel

On the side of the sub woofer we found an air intake. Again this is needed to increase the bass level and sound amplification, plus it could help with cooling the amplifier which is build in the sub woofer. On the back of the is where all the hookups happening. Eagle has included power switch on the back of the Arion. I also do strongly believe that the system will shut itself off after about 15 minutes on inactivity.

Input and output

Ready to rock

Also on the back of we found Audio Input section where we could plug in a cd player or and auxiliary device and Audio Output which is used to connect the satellite speakers too. Very straight forward and no tricks. That's pretty much it for the Arion and its installation. We are going to be using our PSP with Arion and see how it will perform.

Remote

Oops almost forgot the remote. The remote works right out of the box. No tricks here. It has following options: Treble, Bass, Master Volume, Reset and Mute buttons. The only button needs explanation is reset. The reset button will reset the equalizer back to default settings, meaning the adjuster bass and treble will default to manufacturers settings.

Testing

So how did we put this product to the test? About a week ago i had a birth day party/cookout. We have used Arion on the back yard which is about 40 by 60 feet. Every one was having fun and dancing and pretty much enjoying themselves while Arion was doing what it supposed to. A friend of mine came up to me and ask what kind of system am i using. My answer was Arion and PSP. We both laughed and discussed Arion in more details. The system definitely turned heads as we bumped up the bass, hehe. I have tried to max out the volume on Arion and was immediately approached by my mother and was told to put it down hahaha. Kids never grow up:)

Conclusion

The over all experience with Arion was very pleasant and it definitely did its job at the birthday party. Arion has alot good features which makes it a worth to check out. One of the most important features in Arion is the fact that the enclosure is make of solid wood. This fact aids Arion in producing bigger and bolder sound. Another great feature worth of mentioning is the LCD with digital equalizer. Are there any problems with the product? The fact that it doesn't have protective shield in front of the speakers makes me a little big scared when handling the satellite speakers. If you are looking for something small for your living room that would not empty your pocket, Arion maybe a right move for you. Some other system like Bose and Klipsch could cost hundreds of dollars so if you looking to spend a fraction of that Arion is a way to go. I strongly believe that Arion deserves a strong 9/10!

Some pros we found:

Easy to install and use

Great performance and sound

LCD equalizer

Real solid wood enclosures

Some cons we found:

Need protective mesh in front of the speaker
